Sri Lanka’s Army Commander, Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne, commended and honoured Lance Corporal L. H. V. Jayanath for rescuing a child who had fallen into a well, according to the reports.

Newswire says the child was four years old and describes the rescue as saving the child from drowning. The Ada Derana headline also reports that a child was rescued after falling into a well, but does not give the child’s age.

The reports do not provide further details about when or where the incident happened, how the rescue was carried out, or whether any next steps were announced.
